Hello my name is Rod. Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself.

My professional career begins with my pursuit of teaching at the University of West Georgia in 1985. While the journey was not direct in nature it was perhaps destined in the end. After many changes in direction I finally ended my time at UWG with a B.S, M.Ed. and Ed.S (Educational Specialist degree) in Business Education.

My first job as a teacher began 1991 in Gwinnett County at Trickum Middle School as their Business and Computer Applications teacher. Not six years later did I then transfer to Crews Middle School as it opened for its inaugural year of 1997. I can honestly say I have enjoyed every year at Crews. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with now thousands of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Currently, my primary role at Crews is to help students learn the fundamentals of Microsoft Office, proper keyboarding techniques, web design, programming, entrepreneurship, digital and financial literacy which includes an in-depth unit on investing in the stock market. I owe much of my success to the many mentors and educational leaders placed in my path these many years.

I believe strongly in continual learning and professional growth and have played a part as a member or served on the board of my professional organizations (NBEA, SBEA, GACTE, ACTE, and ISTE). I currently teach and hold a county level position as program specialist and help organize and lead the other middle school county business teachers in Gwinnett.

I also serve as the Intramural sponsor & serve as one of the Cross Country Coaches. One other role I enjoy serving at is as the Business Partner Liaison where I get to work with key business partners. Currently I am very proud to have Chick-fil-a as our classroom partner.

Please take a look at my class website to explore what I teach. My activities are project based and student centered. I give Jesus Christ all the glory for allowing me to be used by Him while loving what I do everyday.
