Rodney Stewart
Equine veterinarian Dr. Rodney Stewart graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1997. After graduation, he completed an internship in surgery, medicine, and theriogenology at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital, focusing his interests in equine lameness work-up as well as surgery, and learning advanced reproductive techniques such as embryo transfer. After working as an associate veterinarian in general practice at Parbery and Robson Equine Hospital, in 2000 Rodney Stewart relocated to the U.S. for a fellowship in equine surgery at Washington State University. There, he trained in orthopedic, arthroscopic, and soft tissue surgery, and handled the evaluation and treatment of medical and surgical referral cases.
Following his fellowship, Rodney Stewart worked as an Associate Veterinarian at Battenkill Veterinary Equine, PC in Middle Falls, New York, where he practiced general equine veterinary medicine in a varied population of pleasure, show, and racehorses. In 2002, Rodney Stewart was recruited to the Belmont Veterinary Group in Elmont, New York, a high-volume racetrack practice where he honed his skills treating high-level racehorses at racetracks and training centers in New York, Kentucky, Florida, and California. Within four years he increased the client base and doubled the practice revenue.
In 2006, Rodney Stewart launched Rodney Stewart, BVSc PLLC dba Equine Sports Medicine, an equine veterinary practice based in Saratoga Springs, New York. The growing two-doctor practice specializes in lameness evaluation, poor-performance work-up, diagnostic imaging, pre-purchase examination, field surgery, interventional therapies, and reproductive veterinary care for performance horses. It serves clients in New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, and California. Rodney Stewart also consults internationally with clients in the Middle East, South America, and Europe. He is a member of the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners (NEAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA). In addition to his veterinary practice, Rodney Stewart is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at the Lally School of Management and Technology.
