Born in Guatemala, Rodrigo is a graduate of Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Universidad Francisco Marroquín with minor in Strategy and Marketing. In addition he also holds a Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management from Penn State University.

Rodrigo initiated his professional career in 2002 at Esso Standard Oil (XOM), Guatemala in Customer Service where he progressed through assignments in operations and inventory management.
In 2008, he joined Walmart (WMT) Central America as Import Development Planner in Global Procurement reporting to the Purchasing Director for General Merchandising. He transitioned to the Groceries and Consumables division with responsibilities for Sanitary Registrations and Regulatory Compliance. In 2010 he was appointed Regional Buyer for the Direct Imports model.
In 2012, Rodrigo joined Spectrum Brands (SPB) as Category Management Manager for Central America and Panama, as an advisor for Category Buyers from multiple Retail Environments, managing Categories ranging from Batteries, Small Appliances, Personal Care through Home Improvement.
In 2015 joined Colgate Palmolive (CL) to lead Category Management Walmart Team and Business Analytics Team for Oral Care, Personal Care and Home Care divisions.
Rodrigo is currently the Brand Development Manager for Lubricants and Vehicle consumables with direct responsibility for Marketing and Sales at Viscosa. SA.
In addition to his current role he is Co-Founder of Smart Products, a company dedicated to import, develop and trade a carefully selected & limited portfolio of Brands.
