Rod Truesdell
Asheville, NC area
Hello,
I hope you enjoy my background photo; it was taken on Nov. 1, 2014 from my downstairs front porch here in the mountains of western North Carolina on an unusual early season snowy day. You can tell I'm a weather geek, taking snow pics!
I'm doing what I should've done many years ago, and that's going back to school to get my Masters. I've worked in meteorology for many years, including 15 in the environmental field and most recently ten years as a meteorologist at the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, NC. My job there was eliminated due to funding cuts, and I'm hoping an advanced degree will help me get back into the field.
For now, I'm working as a contractor at the Forest Service SRS station in Asheville doing technical editing and writing for USFS publications. It's a good job and I enjoy the scientific aspects of the position.
If you're a fantasy baseball geek, you might have seen some of my work on the website BaseballHQ.com and as a writer/editor for Ron Shandler's Baseball Forecaster.
Besides being a typical weather lover, I'm a big sports fan, especially of Texas Rangers baseball, college hoops, and I like to play tennis when I can.
