Roel Vertegaal

Roel Vertegaal is one of Canada's most influential designers of future interactive technologies. He is a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at Queen’s University in Canada, where he directs the Human Media Lab, designed by Karim Rashid. Roel is co-founder of Xuuk, Inc, which developed the Eye Pause features for the Samsung Galaxy S4. His inventions include eye contact sensors (eyebox2, 2003), spherical (2008) and cylindrical (2012) computers, holographic videoconferencing (TeleHuman 2012), the paper computer (PaperWindows 2004), the flexible smartphone (PaperPhone 2010) and the paper tablet pc (PaperTab, 2012).
