Roger Kasendorf, DO, is a board-certified osteopathic physician and physiatrist whose practice centers on pain management, physical medicine, and rehabilitation. Working in the San Diego area, he cares for patients with musculoskeletal concerns, acute injuries, and chronic pain, including conditions that have remained unresolved for years. He also teaches at three osteopathic medical schools, serves as a specialty board examiner, and participates in medicolegal matters as an independent medical examiner and expert witness. His patient care is guided by a focus on restoring lost function rather than simply treating a diagnostic label.

Dr. Kasendorf earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1999. He completed his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003. His postgraduate training included a traditional rotating internship at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Nassau University Medical Center. He served as Chief Resident from 2006 to 2007. He holds board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain management and is licensed in California, Nevada, Texas, Wyoming, and Alaska.

Dr. Kasendorf's experience includes clinical practice on both coasts. From 2009 through 2015, he operated his own practice in Long Beach, New York, and La Jolla, California. He also served as a physiatrist and Director of Sports Medicine at Coastal Pain and Spinal Diagnostics. He has been affiliated with Scripps Memorial Hospital since 2014 and joined Ortho 1 Medical Group in January 2026.

Dr. Kasendorf's clinical services cover osteopathic manipulation, acute and chronic pain management, arthritis and rheumatological conditions, cancer pain management, regenerative medicine, and rehabilitation. His procedures include trigger point, joint, spinal, facet, and hyaluronic acid injections, along with Botox for migraines and muscle spasticity. He uses EMG and musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic evaluation. His treatment strategies consider how the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, bones, nerves, and brain interact to address the cause of discomfort and improve function.

Since 2016, Dr. Kasendorf has maintained a medicolegal consulting practice involving independent medical evaluations, case merit and medical record reviews, expert reports, depositions, and trial testimony. His career further includes academic appointments, CME presentations, published clinical work, medical board review, and specialty board service. He received La Jolla Top Doctor recognition in 2020, 2021, and 2022, California Top Osteopathic Physician recognition in September 2020, a Continental Who's Who listing in 2020, and Best Osteopath at the 2021 GHP Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards.

Roger Kasendorf, DO, continues to contribute through patient care, teaching, professional board responsibilities, and medicolegal consulting while maintaining his focus on helping patients regain function and improve their daily activities.
