Roger Reyes

Born in Miami, Florida, Roger Rolando Reyes is the son of Honduran immigrants to the United States. He majored in International Relations at The Honors College at Miami Dade College and in Regional and Comparative Studies at Georgetown University. After graduation, Roger worked in local government, hospitality, and retail before moving to South Korea.

In moving to Jeju Island in 2015, Roger worked as a native English assistant teacher with the English Program in Korea (EPIK) for four years before becoming an English language instructor for the Jeju International Education Institute (JIEI). His notable accomplishments during his eight-year career include award-winning contributions to English language programs in secondary education to attenuate English language inequity for rural public schools under the jurisdiction of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education.

Currently, Roger is majoring in Intercultural and International Communication with a focus on cultural and public diplomacy. He is the Graduate Research Assistant for the AU Korea in Global Affairs Scholars Program; a Peace, Human Rights, and Cultural Relations (PHRCR) Senator for the SIS Graduate Student Council; and the Director of Operations for the Association of Latino Career Enhancement (ALCE).
