ROGER SOUTHALL

Roger's early career in Advertising changed considerably after 8 years, when he made the transition to becoming a freelance illustrator.

Self taught and working initially in 2 dimensions, he quickly explored and gained the techniques of producing 3 dimensional models and caricatures and this form of illustration proved to be very popular and successful during the 1980's.

His reputation grew, for attention to detail and being able to adhere strictly to a client's brief, when necessary and this bought him lucrative, creatively challenging and widely varied commissions from Advertising, Publishing, Multi-National companies and Private Collectors, worldwide.

Equally comfortable, working in a variety of different materials, from clay, metal, wood, resin and fibreglass, he went on to design and produce special effects and props which were used effectively in title sequences, trailers and programmes for Television and Film companies in the UK.

He has won awards at the 3Dimensional Illustrators Society in the United States and exhibited at the prestigious Art Director's Club in New York.

Currently he works in the UK producing mainly figurative hot metal bronzes either as one-offs or in a limited production run for private collectors but spends several months each year at his home in the southern Philippines where he is involved in helping some of the poor and vulnerable children and families of that region.

Proceeds from the sale of his sculptures enables him to continue this work.
