Seasoned technology professional Rolf Ackermann possesses experience working in research and development and software integration and sales for several companies in the energy industry. In his current role as Rock Solid Images' Vice President of Research, Development, and Marketing, Rolf Ackermann assists the Houston consulting firm in its mission to thoroughly map out reservoirs with the goal of reducing risk and enhancing development and drilling.
Rolf Ackermann began to display his interest in and aptitude for geology while an undergraduate at Dickinson College, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. He continued to pursue this field of study at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where he secured his Master's degree with a thesis on river engineering. Ackermann then stayed on at the institution to obtain his PhD in Geology, authoring a dissertation titled "Spatial Distribution of Rift-Related Fractures: Field Observations, Experimental Modeling, and Influence on Drainage Networks."
Capitalizing on his field research and academic success, Rolf Ackermann secured a position as a Senior Research Geologist with ExxonMobil in 1997. Over the course of the next six years, he statistically mapped geologic systems and optimized workflows in an effort to reduce risk and minimize technical concerns. Ackermann left ExxonMobil to become a manager with Beicip Inc., where he analyzed the company's software offerings, drafted contracts with other firms, and allocated the North American marketing budget for the company's reservoir modeling division.
Rolf Ackermann held positions with several other companies before joining Rock Solid Images, including a Halliburton-owned graphics company and BP. For the latter, he successfully marketed BP's exploration and production technology offerings. When not working, Ackermann enjoys leisure activities such as reading philosophy and playing with his dogs.
