Roman Chiu

With a diverse background in design and art, Roman brings many perspectives on design to the board from product to urbanization. Starting recently as a Senior Landscape Designer at Ahbe Landscape Architects in Los Angeles California, Roman was previously an Associate at Tom Leader Studio in Berkeley, California. Roman has worked as project designer and manager for award winning projects including the Calexico International Point of Entry, Birmingham Railroad Park and the Hangzhou Gold Sun Development.

Through working at established landscape firms like the Olin Studio, his interest is in urban settings and the social aspect and utilization of public spaces. Roman has also sought his own design development working at Carnegie Mellon University at the interdisciplinary and thought provoking Studio for Creative Inquiry. He has also taught and been a critic at the University of Southern California, University of Pennsylvania, the Rhode Island School of Design and UC Berkeley.

Roman received his MLA from the University of Pennsylvania with honors and prior, Roman honed his interest in landscape architecture designing educational parks for coal mine remediation in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, and working on the Julie Bargmann’s Vintondale AMD Remeditation Park, where he still maintains a strong interest. Roman developed his artistic and design sense at the Rhode Island School of Design in Industrial Design which he worked in and freelanced for several years.
