Romola Hollywood

Councillor in Ward 2, City of Blue Mountains

BLUE MOUNTAINS COUNCIL ELECTIONS SATURDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2021

My name is Romola Hollywood. I am the Labor Councillor for Ward 2 on Blue Mountains City Council.

For the last five years, I have served as the Alternate Deputy Mayor. I am also active on a number of Council committees and advisory groups.

I am a local. I have lived in Wentworth Falls for 35 years. I have raised my family here and I have always been actively involved in our community.

The Blue Mountains is an exceptional part of the world. Our city is one of only two cities located in a world heritage area. I work to ensure our Council has policies and plans to protect our city from over-development and strengthen environmental protections.

The Blue Mountains is one of the most bushfire prone cities in the world. We have faced the intensity of bushfires in 2013, 2015 and the Black Summer fires in 2019-2020. As a Councillor, I have been proud to use my voice to advocate for action on climate change. I also strongly support the work of our emergency services.

Everyday, I work on local issues and priorities that people living in Ward 2 - Faulconbridge (west of Grose Road), Linden, Woodford, Hazelbrook, Lawson, Bullaburra and Wentworth Falls - raise with me.

I have advocated for better planning and more resources for safer pedestrian access. We are now seeing the results with new footpaths in some parts of Ward 2. This will grow over time.

I have fought for much-needed safety improvements for the car park at Hazelbrook which has now been delivered.

I have called for improvements to our parks, reserves and sporting facilities - this has led to new playground equipment at Wentworth Falls Lake, regular maintenance and heritage interpretation for Woodford Reserve, and a permanent and expanded home for the Dog-off Leash area at Lawson.

I have fought to save the baby and toddler pools at Lawson and continuing its summer operating hours.

I have pushed for a strategic plan to improve the vast range of stormwater and drainage issues across Ward 2.

These are just some of the many issues that I have worked on with our community since I was elected to Blue Mountains City Council in 2012 and then again 2016.

I am now standing for re-election in 2021 with my running mates - Claire West and Annette Bennett.

I love this community and want to protect and strengthen our quality of life for now and future generations.
