As a female sailor in the United States Navy, I am faced with the many challenges of a life that is continuously tossed with the wind. Literally. That's okay, I chose this path and I continue to choose it daily. I graduated high school in May of 2008 and immediately started attending Community College. I took classes for a year and a half, then decided to take a hiatus from school and do what is commonly called a "Gap Year." I chose to attend a ten month religious leadership development program called Focus.one. After completing the program I went back to community college to finish my Associate degree in Liberal Arts. I graduated with my degree in May of 2013. It was then that I decided to join the Navy the following September. That is where I find myself today. My experiences in what I now call the "civillian job field" is broad and covers many ranges. I worked at a local ice cream/fast food joint, I was a secretary/receptionist for a Chiroptactic office, I "detasseled corn," I house-sat and animal-sat frequently, I was a secretary/receptionist for a local law firm, I worked at a private school with the after-school program for elementary children, I was a full-time nanny for a year and a half, I worked in the College Library at the school I attended; Whew! I think that about covers it! You name it, I've probably done it, or rather come close. I also have a wide range of hobbies and "other" experiences. I took piano lessons for several years. I have the ability to read music, for the most part, and I can play, but my skills need refining. It is something that I WILL pursue in the future when my military career allows. When I was younger, I was a part of a small children's choir/acting group that performed once a month. Later on I did four years of high school choir. I also participated in an annual musical that was performed by and run by my community. The goal of this annual perfomance was to raise money for the local homeless shelter. I did this for five years, two of which I played one of the lead roles. My senior year of high school I participated in two plays, both of which I starred in title roles. I was also highly invoved in my church choir, which was known for putting on musicals, two of which I was once again in title roles. On another note, for several years I was a part of living history events in both Civil War eras and WWII, and a bit in between. Well, looks like I have run out of room.
