A native of Michigan, Joseph began working for the Boy Scouts organization in 1999 in Grand Rapids, where he started his career with the nonprofit as a District Executive. In this role, he developed a professional relationship with a local judge named Ben Logan. Working in tandem with the judge, the two spawned Boy Scout troops with several community organizations, offering community building opportunities where none existed. Joseph also severed as a volunteer with CASA to help youth learn about law and provide direction to assist them while rectifying previous prohibited behavior.
In August 2002, Joseph received a promotion and relocated to Phoenix. He began his career locally as a Senior District Executive, where his management skills and passion made huge impressions with community leaders and youth. He greatly exceeded fundraising goals and considerably increased scouting membership. He held several other management positions until he was named for his current post.
His upbringing in Grand Rapids led to his graduation from Grandville High School and obtaining a higher education in nearby Allendale at Grand Valley State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Joseph also studied abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica, where he developed a keen awareness of divergent cultures and passion for improving the lives of others. Costa Rica had a profound effect on him that included learning a new language and new culture. A chief goal of his after leaving Costa Rica was bringing people together and providing a better quality of life for youth and adults who had the desire to bring about change. “My aspiration is to bring people together through newly-discovered resources and he acts as a catalyst for business leaders eager to help foster positive change. That is my life’s calling,” he says. “It happens to be what I do for a living with the Boy Scouts.”
