Ronnie MacLennan Baird

Journalist Broadcaster Lawyer Consultant in Stanley, Falkland Islands

Based in the Falkland Islands, I am a freelance journalist and broadcaster, a legal practitioner and a public policy consultant.

I run my own independent law practice and consultancy (Ronnie MB - Law & Policy) on a part-time basis.

As a journalist and broadcaster, I spent nearly 3 years in the news team for Falklands Radio, including time spent as Acting News Editor and News Lead. I also presented music programmes and provided live commentary on a wide range of events.

As a lawyer, my specialist areas are Legislation (legislative drafting and advice on statutory interpretation) and Public Policy (lobbying), but I do provide general legal services as well. I am also the local correspondent for a number of P&I Clubs.

I have over 12 years specialist experience in Legislative Drafting and the law making process, having worked for the UK Government Legal Service and the Falkland Islands Government.

(Before becoming a government lawyer, I had trained with Clifford Chance in London and Brussels and stayed with that firm as a shipping litigator for 3 years after qualifying.)
