Small Business Owner in San Francisco, California

Two stings as a small business owner. One in West Lafayette, Indiana next to Purdue University. We built an eleven room karaoke lounge next to the movie theater at Wabash Landing. When we started there was only one other karaoke place. We did well enough that the other place shut its doors after a couple years, but our best quality in my opinion was our brown sugar bubble tea. Years later I ventured into a quiet little cafe while studying for my MBA. It was called Cafe Roule. 2nd year of business school my partner and I were shopping around to buy a small business and we ventured into a small boba / coffee shop that looked oddly familiar. The walls were painted a horrendous blue, with a terrible name, Cafe Elope, but the place was definitely where Cafe Roule stood years ago. We picked it up and re-vitalized the Cafe Roule name. But let me tell you, owning a small business is no easy feat, especially in high-wage, high-tax California. You're either owner-operating or you're killing it. We weren't killing it, and neither of us had the time to be there all day. So.... we divested it within 6 months. The new owner Aaron has done wonders in turning it around.
