Ron Passaro

Ron's film music has recently been featured in 100+ festivals worldwide, including the Seattle International Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, VisionFest, Anaheim International Film Festival (audience award, best live-action short film), Breckenridge Festival (best film award), the Palm Springs International ShortFest and the Palm Beach International Film Festival (best short film award).

Recent awards include Best Original Score from the Long Island International Film Expo, an award from the Indie Gathering International Film Scoring Competition, Best Original Theme in a Motion Picture from the Garden State Film Festival and a Gold Medal for Excellence in Music for a Short Film at the Park City Film Music Festival.

Ron most recently completed the score for the feature documentary, Queen Mimi, from Director Yaniv Rokah and Executive Producer Michael Shamberg (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained).

Since 2011, Ron has sold over 3,000 licenses to his music for commercial use in film, TV and online projects. Ron also launched his own music production company, Audio Verite, in 2013 with co-founder Shawn Russell.

Ron recently completed 10 minutes of music for a tribute to Hillary Clinton on the occasion of the Children’s Defense Fund’s 40th Anniversary. The event was held on September 30th, 2013 at Washington D.C.’s famed Kennedy Center with Hillary Clinton in attendance for the event.

Ron was honored to have been asked to write a brass fanfare performed by the West Point Band in honor of the West Side Presbyterian Church’s centennial celebration. It had its world premiere at the church on October 14th, 2011.

Ron has also worked as an orchestrator for the new Pound Puppies and My Little Pony television series airing on The Hub TV network.

Ron’s current musical theater work includes writing the songs for a musical about New York real estate with collaborators Alex Lippard and David Lee.

Ron studied music and orchestration with Osvaldo Golijov at the College of the Holy Cross where he received the Beethoven Award for outstanding composition. He continued on to get his MFA at the Tisch Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU and studied small ensemble composition with Conrad Cummings at The Juilliard School. Ron also attended Hollywood orchestrator Scott Smalley’s Advanced Orchestration Course: “The Art and Craft of Orchestration for Film & TV.”
