Regional Overdose Prevention Coalition
Coalition in Pennsylvania
The Regional Overdose Prevention Coalition is a group of concerned public health, health care, law enforcement, and community leaders from Philadelphia and its surroundings collaborating on a regional approach to the opioid crisis. We began our coalition in January 2017 with informal conversations about working together across county lines, and have since held five conferences in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. The conferences are primarily a networking and information sharing opportunity, with 60 to 100 people attending from the region and the state.
Our group has also been giving presentations focused on fostering a regional approach. In addition, we have subcommittees who work on specific issues between meetings and report back to the larger group at the conferences. We are addressing many aspects of the epidemic, including:
Treatment Inventory
Warm Handoff initiatives
Naloxone access
Data sharing
Perinatal health
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Communications
Payer Collaboration
First Responder Safety
Safer Pain Medication Prescribing
Legislative Response
