Mohammad Roqibul Islam

Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Mr. Mohammad Roqibul Islam is the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor of the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) and the Gender Focal Point of its Energy Programme as well as the Co-chair of Gender Working Group of GIZ BD. Prior to joining at GIZ, he worked as Manager of Grameen Shakti, the largest sister company of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Grameen Bank, and responsible for project development, renewable energy project execution, interns coordinator and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects development and monitoring activities.

Mr. Islam has experiences on improved cookstove design and testing, biogas technology research and development, solid waste management and wastewater treatment technologies.

Mr. Islam has presented Grameen Shakti ICS CDM project to the European Parliament as Project Ambassador in March 2012. He has also been a panel member on Energy Efficiency Policy of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit on Regulation, Policy and Governance which held on June 2012 and 8th Asia Clean Energy Forum in 2013 at Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Manila, Philippine. He is also actively involved as an advisory committee member of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in Bangladesh, an initiative led by UN Foundation.

Roqibul is a graduate of University of Abertay (UK), Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (Bangladesh) and Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of University of Dhaka (Bangladesh). He also completed certificate course on Climate Change from University of Oxford (UK) and on Biogas Technology from The Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). Apart from these he received numerous training in diversified subject areas from Results based Monitoring to Gender.
