Not quite sure that it was normal, but I remember the moment I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur quite clearly. I was sitting in a classroom in college in Mercyhurst University, Erie PA and it was like a penny drop moment. I had this burning desire to build something, but wasn't quite sure what it would be. In hindsight it seems quite obvious as the class was a 10 week entrepreneurship module, but I knew after that moment that the idea of entrepreneurship would fit me like a glove. On returning to Ireland in 2004, I entered the sales industry and began selling door to door. This was an important part of my journey as I really got to understand the elements of relating to all types of people, and working on commission thought me that the 'buck stops with you.' I started to understand that I was in the driving seat and started to work towards building my first business. I opened Roar Promotions at the age of 24 in the sales and marketing industry and grew it across Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands and Canada over the next 8 years. In 2014, I began building Melosity, an online music studio that allows musicians to collaborate on the same track from anywhere in the world. We released the beta product in September 2016 and currently have over 650 active users across 40+ countries. Not big numbers you say? Well...we have yet to advertise the platform so all our traction is purely word of mouth. In 2017, we are starting work on the second version which will be our social network. We want to build a "Linkedin for Musicians" where they can find like-minded artists from around the world and work on projects together. My goal is for Melosity to change the way musicians connect and collaborate together online. Check out our Angellist profile to find out more about our plans!
