They say life is a journey.

Well, not to disagree with the age-old cliché, but I believe life is more so a series of journies. For example, the first in my family to go to college was my journey back in 2008. Now though, having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ramapo College of New Jersey in May 2012 with my BA in Literature and Creative Writing, I have set upon a seperate journey. This one's goal is to find my place in the work-world.

Of course I was warned. My entire senior year of college consisted of "Apply! Apply! Network! Apply! Apply!". And I did so, dilligently. It worked out well at first. I landed a temp job at a medical office, and then two retail jobs. It didn't matter if they were considered "dead-end"; I was just grateful to be receiving a paycheck every week. However, I soon realized what I really want is a career at a company I can learn from, grow in, and contribute to. And my "dead-end" jobs weren't a waste. They taught me skills such as customer service, time management, and communication (just to name a few), all of which are entirely transferable to careers. They also gave me experience in sales and administration, and, perhaps the most important, the confidence to believe in myself and the strength to persevere.

So, if you are looking for an individual who is tenacious, motivated, and focused, I believe you have found your candidate. I am currently searching for editorial, recruitment/staffing, human resources, and administrative opportunities in New York City and New Jersey.
