I absolutely LOVE what I do! I have been in education for more than 18 years. I am one of the few who has teaching experience on all three levels: elementary, middle, and high school. My counseling experience; however, is concentrated at the high school level...,, did I mention I LOVE what I DO! When I was a student at Skyine High School in Dallas, Texas, I was blessed to have (in my opinion) the BEST COUNSELOR, Mrs. Eloise London. She challenged us to think beyond the right now & discuss concrete plans for what we wanted to do in the future. I was absolutely convinced that I would have a career in law-either as an attorney or a law enforcement officer.. In college I majored in Criminal Justice and English to prepare me for my future goals. Little did I know.... God had different plans! I graduated from college in August and was blessed with my most prized gift in October, my handsome son (affectionately known as Da' Boi)! Well, there goes law school & the police academy! I still had aspirations of law enforcement; however, I wanted to wait until my son was older. My son's God-Father, a teacher/coach at a middle school, talked me into being a substitute teacher at his school until I was ready to pursue my ultimate goal. It only took a week for me to fall in love with the smell of school at the beginning of the year.,,, the eager look in the kids eyes as they hang on to your every word (obviously, this is all prior to ANY break..lol).... So in 1994, I stopped by education for a visit...... I decided to be a counselor because I wanted to be for my students the pillar that Mrs. London was for me. I wanted to share a different relationship with kids that allowed me to pour into their future in a more distinct manner! I love my KIDDOS! Being a Counselor and Educator IS definitely where I needed to be & I am eternally grateful that I found my way! I am blessed beyond measure....
