Rose Ghamari
From the time that Rose was a prospective Ryerson Engineering student still in highschool, she was interested in becoming a part of Ryerson's engineering student society. Rose saw such spirit and enthusiasm in the individuals involved with RESS and knew that this was something that she wanted to be a part of.
Rose has been involved with RESS for nearly 4 years now, first as the RESS secretary, then as the elected Aerospace Director, moving on to being appointed as the RESS VP Finance, and then again elected as the RESS President for the 2012-2013 school year.
Rose loves being involved with the Ryerson Engineering Student Society because she wants to make the engineering student life as easy as can be for all of the engineering student body. She knows that engineering students all work extremely hard and believes that they deserve an engineering student society that will provide them with the best services possible. Rose believes in equality, always stands up for student rights, and her number one priority is to be fair to all students.
Ryerson is an every-growing university and is now one of the most highly applied to universities in the province. We are slowly moving out of the "RyeHigh" image, and this also needs to be reflected within RESS. With these growing demands, RESS also needs to grow to be able to accommodate a growing student body, and to be viewed as a beneficial resource for all engineering students.
If elected as President for the 2013-2014 school year, Rose will work on the following initiatives:
-Increase engineering study spaces
-Increase funding for engineering design teams, groups, clubs, conferences & competitions
-Provide more support for engineering initiatives across campus
-Hold more free events for engineering students
-Continue to grow RESS’s transparency and accountability
-Develop ways to increase inclusivity within the society
-Construct a RESS tutoring program for students
-Clarify the description of the executive roles within the society to increase efficiency
-Examine the current services and committees within the society to ensure that they meet the needs of the students
