I have lived most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, primarily in western Washington, and since 1998, in eastern Oregon. The cover of trees and frequent rains offer a fitting setting for mindful reflection, obsessive reading, and mountain hiking. I attempt all three in my university classes (although the rough going of mountain hiking is usually metaphorical). My work with students includes the study of gender, social psychology, inequality, education, families, religion, and social movements.
