Rosi Wyan
An undergraduate student at The Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus, Ohio, Rosi Wyan has a special focus on computer science and engineering. A talented scholar, she has appeared multiple times on the dean's list within the past two years. As part of her academic studies, Rosi Wyan regularly works on and completes computer science projects, such as generating basic artificial intelligence applications. She also developed an online bookstore database and coded a C++ calendar system. Rosi Wyan has completed projects using the Java programming language and has set up basic computer network architectures. She has also acquired experience in utilizing the component-based approach to implement applications in software development and engineering.
In her extracurricular activities, Rosi Wyan leads the campus chapter of the Association of Computing Machinery Committee on Women (ACM-W). In this role, she helps promote the organization's mission, which includes mentoring aspiring female computer scientists. The group often shares computer science history and highlights the contributions of women to the field. OSU's ACM-W chapter participates in a number of activities throughout the year, including a tour of the Ohio Supercomputer Center, guest speaker events, and career-related opportunities.
As a volunteer, Rosi Wyan visits elementary schools with the Women in Engineering organization. In this capacity, she mentors girls interested in the sciences and describes the opportunities available in engineering. Assisting female OSU students in computer science and engineering as well, Rosi Wyan helps them become acclimated to the campus and the department and makes them aware of opportunities to learn more about computer science and engineering. Women in Engineering also helps current students to make networking connections with alumni and women working in the field.
In her free time, Rosi Wyan enjoys running, hiking, and traveling. She also actively participates in Upper Arlington Jiu Jitsu, which offers training in Brazilian jiujitsu.
