Rotaract Club of Elmira College
The Rotaract Club of Elmira College was founded two years ago with the intention of bringing the ideals of Rotary International to the Elmira College campus. As a service club, we provide our members with opportunities to foster leadership and responsible citizenship, and to promote international peace and understanding within our community.
We are a group of very proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated young Rotaractors eager to give the best of us to the world. In two years, we have recruited active members, completed successful projects, and essentially reached all of our major goals. In our first year, we collected over 400 books on our campus and sent them to children in Africa. Similarly, last year we collected dozens of clothing items that were donated to the Samaritan Center of the city of Elmira. We have also created long lasting friendships with other Rotaract clubs in Brazil, Mexico, and Spain by exchanging music and participating in online conferences that have taught us the importance of diversity and to be culturally aware. This year, we brought the “End Polio Now” campaign to our campus in an effort to bring awareness about the progress of Rotary International in the eradication of polio to our fellow classmates as well as to raise money for the Polio Plus fund. We surpassed our goal and raised over $350 to contribute to the international cause. And these are only some of our major projects.
