Multi-axial movement and nanopositioning- Muli-axial movement occurs when a Rotation stage, motion control device or system is made to move in the X, Y, and Z axis of movement. A movement in these 3 planes of Multi-axial movement is quite different from the linear axis movement which comes from the linear stage (x-axis) and the biaxial (xz-axis) stage movement. This multi-axial movement can be achieved with a combined x-stages or a complete XYZ stage. You can use a combination of 3 linear stages, or a combination of a linear stage and XY stage with the help of brackets depending on your need. But one could argue that a complete xyz stage devices have higher load capacity as well as great for reducing precision errors.
