Bill Rotheisler
Courtenay, BC
My name is Bill Rotheisler.
I am a passionate, determined and focused leader. I coach hockey, not for reasons of status or ego, but because of my deep love for the game.
I am originally from Calgary and I have spent the majority of my time in Calgary, Penticton, Kelowna and now Courtenay, BC. I have a Mother and Step-Father in Okanagan Falls, BC. My Father and Step-Mother are just outside of Calgary in Chestermere, AB with my little sister who is currently going to Mount Royal University in Calgary, AB.
As a coach, I am continually amazed by the amount of work, progress and and the overall progressive nature of the sport that requires continuous work to continually be successful. In ten years of coaching, I have yet to see a season that is not incredibly different than the next. Although each season is different, it is a framework based on experience that provides the players and organization the professionalism and direction to channel passionate players and members of the organization into the right direction.
Despite my stimulated words, I am quite analytical with my methods. Preparation is necessary. I have a strong technical knowledge of the game and I believe that teaching the game is necessary for both developing and winning. I am a strong supporter of the use of video for individual and team development. My reputation with this very strong, winning a bronze medal at the 2011 U17 World Championship as a video coach for Team Pacific.
I believe in surrounding myself with good people, good support staff, good organizations, and in turn developing good players, and making them better. Success is a group effort. I am also a proponent of being upfront and honest with players, which makes personal attention and respect necessary.
I currently am the Head Coach of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings Junior Hockey Club, hosts of this years Cyclone Taylor Cup. We are a member of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League and are currently in the VIJHL league final.
Previous to this season, I spent 5 seasons with hockey academies, with both Pursuit of Excellence and Okanagan Hockey Academy.
In addition to being "in the trenches", I am High Performance Certified and had the honor of attending High Performance 2. I was also a presenter for High Performance 1.
To sum it up: I love hockey, and owe it.
