Howdy, I’m Emily. I’m a teacher living in Keswick, Ontario. I am a fan of photography, horseback riding, reading and creative writing. I am an Ontario Certified teacher holding qualification in Primary, Junior and Intermediate divisions. I am a permanent employee with Durham Catholic District School Board. I have taken both Part 1 and 2 of Special Education and I am looking forward to becoming a specialist as I enjoy working with students who challenge me to find unique ways to differentiate my instruction to meet their unique needs.

I grew up in Canada but ended up going on a 4 year adventure and completed my undergraduate degree in English at RutgersUniversity in New Jersey. Upon moving back home to Canada, I then moved toThunder Bay to completed my B.Ed at Lakehead University. I moved from beautifulCanada, to the noisy Jersey Shore, back to Canada , living in a very unique and beautiful city. I have been living in the GTA for the past 10 years now and I am happy to finally be a permanent teacher as I feel I can finally put down my roots, reflect on my educational journey, take a deep breath, and be proud my personal accomplishments.

Lastly, I love everything about literacy! I love reading, writing, and being creative. I love teaching English in school because I love learning how my students interpret poems, stories, songs and novels. I am always fascinated by their viewpoint and love seeing what they "get" our of our texts. It is very fulfilling to see their progression in their literacy abilities over the course of the year!
