Roxana Recio
As Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures at Creighton University in Nebraska, Roxana Recio divides her time between teaching Spanish language and literature courses, advising students, serving on committees, and publishing research. Roxana Recio holds responsibility for developing and delivering course materials that encompass a range of Spanish competencies, from basic Spanish language to advanced Spanish literature classes, with a special emphasis on Medieval and Renaissance literature. Roxana Recio also provides academic advising to students, acts as a thesis director, and serves on departmental committees. With a collection of more than 70 inspired scholarly contributions, Roxana Recio earned international recognition as a talented and prolific author, as well as an expert on Spanish literature. In 1977, Roxana Recio received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Literature from Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, prior to moving to the United States to expand her academic career. Roxana Recio enrolled in Florida International University’s Modern Language Education program, graduating in 1981 with a Master of Science. The University of Michigan provided Roxana Recio the opportunity to develop more fully as a scholar. After five years of dedicated study, Dr. Recio graduated with both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish. Following the completion of her doctoral studies, Roxana Recio taught at a number of prestigious educational institutions. Southwestern College offered Roxana Recio her first assistant professorship position in 1991, followed by similar roles at Wichita State University and Creighton University. Roxana Recio serves as an active member of Asociación Internacional Siglo de Oro, American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas, Asociación Hispánica de Literatura Medieval, and Modern Language Association, among others.
