Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club
Forest Row, East Sussex
Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club is a traditional members' club with two glorious 18 hole courses.
The golf club was founded in 1888, the clubhouse was built a few years later and still remains the same. This is an extremely popular venue for society days, corporate events and Old Boys' matches. The title "Royal" came in 1893 after a visit from the then Duke of Cambridge. Royal Ashdown continues to retain its reputation for being one of the premier clubs in the UK.
The Old Course is designed by nature and is graded as one of the top 100 courses in the British Isles. It has also been selected by the R&A as an Open Championship Regional Qualifying venue. It also hosted the amateur international match between England and Spain in 2007.
The West Course was transformed to an 18 hole course in 1932, it's surrounded by lovely woodland albeit with ample heather. Within the grounds there is a new two-storey clubhouse, this provides modern facilities including a bar and restaurant.
