Holding important positions in the law field before retiring, Roy E. Huhs Jr. has served the public as an operations and security person for Seattle’s Alaskan cruise industry. Roy E. Huhs Jr. served as a checkpoint security supervisor, operations assistant, and pier advisor for several companies at dockside.
Having earned a juris doctorate from the University of California-Los Angeles, Mr. Huhs spent much of his earlier career as senior counsel at Rainier National Bank, and general counsel for Entranco, a regional engineering, design, and environmental firm where he handled contracts and corporate law matters. As owner and general counsel of R-Amtech International, he negotiated intellectual property rights. He also served as a contract arbitrator for Superior Courts in Washington State and land use and civil code hearing examiner for the City of Bellevue.
Listed in Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in American Law, Mr. Huhs is a former member of the United States Supreme Court Bar and served as vice mayor and city council member for Mercer Island. In addition, he actively participated in the campaigns of U. S. Senator Slade Gorton and U. S. Representative Rod Chandler. While in law school, he was an intern for the Center for National Policy Review at Catholic University of America which focused on civil rights enforcement in the areas of housing, education, and employment.
His other pursuits included managing an art gallery, teaching business and banking law classes, sponsoring plays, coaching youth sports athletics, and serving as vice chair of the transportation committee for Puget Sound Council of Governments and board member for low-income housing assistance.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, gardening, home improvements projects, classical music, genealogy, and running. He is a member of an international food and wine gastronomic society, the La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
