Roy van Veen
Hi! I'm Roy van Veen, self-employed since forever, husband and dad. My professional history is a strange one. Started as a writer (advertising, theatre) in 1986. Moved into physical security (guys, dogs, systems) in 1994-1995, followed by online gaming (1995-1998) and fish (yes, the food: 1996-1998). Next up was my Tech era: systems and services (1998-1999) where I met my wife, followed by e-commerce (1999-2002) then middleware (2003-2008) and telecoms (2004-2014).
The writing never stopped. Through the years I' ve worked on plays and musicals, did a lot of copywriting, wrote columns, short stories, speeches, essays, long background stories, songs, poems and lots and lots of other stuff. A couple of years ago I discovered photography. I'm still trying to get it right, but have developed a deep affection for my Leica.
Through the years I have won my fair share of ugly sculptures, mirrors and pellets. To name but a few: I was named most promising startup chief, most decent entrepreneur and most eccentric manager in telecom. Now trying to win the best accolade by being the coolest dad in the world.
