Northern Virginia Entrepreneur Blog by Roy Wright – whose diversified crafts include Scientific Research Think Tank Practice, Behind-the-Scenes Staff Volunteer at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History – Paleobiology & Mineral Science Departments, and Web Curator Volunteer for Alexandria Amateur Radio Club – W4HFH. My practice of scientific research involves many possible pathways to gather data and develop hypotheses. These multiple research methods include experimentation, description, comparison, and modeling. Although conducting scientific research may differ between disciplines, the underlying principles and objectives are similar. Whether you are talking about biology, chemistry, geology, physics, or any other scientific field, the body of knowledge that is built through these disciplines is based on the collection of data that is then analyzed and interpreted in light of other research findings. PROJECT TIMELINE (2010) Twenty-Five Metals, Inc. – Alexandria, VA — Co-Founder & COO – a Virginia based company formed to extract both harmful elements and valuable materials from the by-product of coal combustion, familiarly known as ‘Coal Fly Ash, or CFA.’ The technology to achieve this was originally developed by the Boeing and Rocketdyne Corporations as part of a NASA funded project. (2009) SunWalker WorldWide, Inc. – Alexandria, VA — Co-Founder & COO – a work-in-progress establishing native american Indian tribe subsidiaries for job development missions in New Mexico and Virginia. One such mission is to fabricate Concentrated Photo-voltaic (CPV) solar power system capable of 100 megawatts output under joint IP sharing agreement. (2007) Innovative Institute for Material Studies,Inc – Alexandria, VA — President & CEO – a material science think tank practice, for augmenting composite material survivability to mitigate IED and munition ballistic and blast events to protect human occupants, and land-sea-air transport vehicles. This Composite Integral Armor Initiative: A research study to design, develop, test and optimize protective composite sintered material samples of minerals and ceramic elements postulated on the theory of chaos cross-ply laminate order – disorder to increase toughness, stiffness and reduce mass weight. (2005) Select Armor Inc – The Plains, VA — Marketing and Technical Armor Advisor – developed sales campaign for start-up Force protection technologies customized for Fire-EMS, Military, Law Enforcement and Home
