My mom and dad had ten kids. All boys, except for six girls. I brought up the rear on a hot August afternoon in 1950. Life was simple, but interesting in our large family.

I remember this picture of us standing along the road in the morning waiting for the school bus. Compared to images now of children going off to school, we looked like homeless kids or refugees waiting for relocation.

Can you imagine, our house had no running water or Wi-Fi!

In a small high school class of 89 it wasn’t hard to find Jean. I found her in 1oth grade English class writing a love note to her boy friend who was far away in the Air Force. Too bad for him. Four years later we were married at 19. We would be married for 40 years. It was great!

Our life was perfect with one child, my favorite daughter, two cats and three fidos. Life was perfect, right? God was republican, everything was black and white. All was right with our world.

Our marriage ended in her death and everything I knew about life was going to be challenged beyond belief. I was and still am a follower of Jesus and have been in ministry for the last 35 years.

I started to look for answers. Not for the usual why questions, but to know God in a more intimate way. I was in a very dark room and all my past faith experience was no longer sufficient to help me in this place. I began keeping a journal of my experience as I went through the months of fear, desperation and loneliness as a single person.

I want to share those insights with you, and I hope you will share yours with me and others in this community I’m calling “Veritasity”. I’m new to blogging, but not to thinking. Pardon my dust here as I am getting oriented with all the menus, etc.

One Sunday morning in church I saw this new face. It wasn’t long before Carrie introduced herself to me and when we hugged one another, I knew I met someone very special. We married one year later.

Carrie and I live in Kempton, Pennsylvania where we are enjoying our new lives together along with 3 indoor cats,15+ ferals, and Carrie's horse, Kota.
