For over 25 years, my heart has been dedicated to Social Work. I’ve fiercely advocated for those who need it most. My journey led me to serve as the nurturing force behind Indian Child Welfare at the Child Welfare League of America, where I championed the rights and well-being of Native American children and families and have transitioned that experience into serving vulnerable student populations and helping students establish self-efficacy and purpose. But it’s not just about policy analysis—I’ve been in the trenches, shaping social welfare programs with genuine care.
Equipped with a master’s degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and credentials in School Social Work and School Counseling, I blend academic wisdom with years of hands-on experience. My passion for equity fuels my work. As an emotional architect, I’ve taken on the challenge of weaving the concept of “well-spaces” into public schools. It’s not just about resilience; it’s about those delicate threads of belonging. My mission? To live by the Hawaiian saying, “E hele me ka pu’olo”—making every person, place, or condition better than before, always. Creating ripples of positivity and empowering hearts—that’s what drives me.
I am currently living in Alamo, California, and enjoy creative endeavors from crafts to music to sports. I consider myself a bit of a chameleon who changes with what life throws at me. Through this experience, I share my core belief that one can always "change their stars." We are not stationary beings; we grow, move, change, and grow.
I offer private advising on program development through my private practice, GlisZen Therapeutics.
