My sophomore year of high school I enrolled in a class called “Intro to Economics” to satisfy my curiosity about what the term economics actually meant. I was nervous at first that this would be just another math class but to my surprise this subject turned out to be like nothing I had ever studied before. I was introduced for the first time to concepts such as supply and demand, scarcity and opportunity cost. I immediately fell in love with this social science and went on to take AP Economics the very next year, scoring a 5 out of 5 on the end of the year AP test. There was no question in my mind that this was exactly what I wanted to study once I moved on to college.
Once in college I was able to pursue this passion for economics and was amazed at how little my high school classes had actually covered. I immersed myself in this field and every day in class my understanding grew deeper and deeper. With the help of my statistics classes I was able to advance my economic abilities and create solutions to problems that seemed impossible only a short time ago. As I advance through my college career economics continues to excite and inspire me and I plan to turn this love of economics into a career.
