Rob Baker

Consultant in Boston, Massachusetts

My career in the non-profit and government sectors as a director and web developer has taken me around the world working with information communication technology for development, crisis response, and political activism.

Most recently, I was a Lead Technologist for USAID's Global Development Lab. As a political appointee, I exited with the previous administration and am currently seeking new opportunities.

Prior to that, I was in the Innovation Labs of the World Bank Group as program lead for their open data efforts, a 2013 White House Presidential Innovation Fellow helping craft and implement the US open data strategy, and COO at Ushahidi, a Kenyan-based open source software company creating mobile and mapping software.

I've spoke extensively on these topics including events at the United Nations, the US State Dept., and MIT. I was previously a member of the US-Russia Presidential Bilateral Commission on Media and a member of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.
