Andrew Scott

Hello, my name is Richard A Scott Jr., and I am a new student at Modesto Jr. Collage pursuing my Associate of Science degree in Mathematics. This will be a two year program followed by a transfer to San Jose State where I will continue my education and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. During the next four years, I plan to be a full time student and work as diligently as I can to obtain my degrees. I would like to avoid taking out school loans, if at all possible, because I do not want to acquire a large amount of debt while pursuing my education My purpose in writing this letter is to share my story with you and to request any financial assistance that you would be willing to offer.

Two years later, I was arrested for theft and video voyeurism which lead to a five year prison sentence in May of 2006. During my first couple of years in prison, I suffered a lot and through that suffering I began to wake up out of the drug enhanced fog that I had been living in. About two years into my sentence, a fellow inmate gave me a bible study to read and, as I read it, God began to show me how he created me to be in a relationship with Him. I quickly understood that I had been chasing the temporary things of this world and not seeking after God like I was created to do. I decided then, that I would turn my life around and seek the things that God had planned for my life. The first thing that I felt led to do was obtain my GED and I was able to do that in May of 2008. I had a passion for school a
