I was born in 1998 in Everett, a small southern Ontario town. I grew up in a German household with my brother and our immigrant parents who gave us a childhood rich in blended culture and language. Thanks to this early exposure to bilingualism, I demanded my parents enroll me in Extended French and (after lots of begging) they even let me go on a three month exchange to Paris, France.
I spent most of my early years with my nose in a book, but sometimes I’d set the reading aside to participate in group activities like tennis and improvisation club. Now I am in my last year of a major in French, as well as a minor in each English Literature and Spanish at Laurentian University, completing my Bachelor of Education in 2021.
Three years as an active member of LU’s Bachelor of Education Student Association have taught me a lot of patience. I am not easily discouraged or frustrated when facing interpersonal or classroom difficulties like disruptive behaviours. After two years as a part of Frontier College’s (a numeracy and literacy tutoring organisation) Organisational Team, I have experienced firsthand the importance of patience and understanding in the classroom.
My many experiences working with students in schools has only encouraged my love for learning and self-reflection, as I am always doing my best to be the best teacher I can. Armed with my strong understanding of French and other languages, I am an effective communicator and can always find new ways to explain things to facilitate understanding.
