Ruaidhri Mc Gee

Rosapenna Golf Resort

Ruaidhri is a 24 year old Irish professional golfer who became a member of the European Tour 2014 following his his great result in the final of Qualifying School at PGA Cataluyna in November 2013. His first main European Tour event was the Lyoness Open in Austria where he finished joint 25th. He played a number of events on the Challenge Tour in 2014 but contracted Hepatitis A during the summer and was unable to play from August onwards.
Having played golf since the age of three at Rosapenna in County Donegal, Ireland, Ruaidhri showed a natural ability from an early age and sustained a keen interest through his early and teenage years. While an amateur, Ruaidhri played for Ireland in the Home Internationals in 2007 and represented Ireland against Canada in 2006. He won Ulster Under 13, 14 and 15 Champion Trophy over the three years that he competed at that level.
At the age of 16 Ruaidhri was awarded the Juniors Sports Personality of the year in his home city of Derry recognising his golfing achievements and his winning of the Tom Montgomery Trophy for best Under 18 golfer in Ireland in 2007 at the age of just 16.

Ruaidhri moved to Spain at 15, benefiting from year-round sunshine which facilitated constant practice at his new home course, Roda Golf Resort in Murcia during his almost seven years there, returning to Ireland annually for the summer season. Prior to turning professional in 2010 Ruaidhri represented his club, his county, his province and his country during his amateur career.
Ruaidhri's amateur achievements made it possible to secure some early sponsorship support from Titleist and Ping but to help with the financial pressures associated with competing at a professional level, he created a unique digital advertising platform where anyone could buy advertising space on his website from as little as €10, gaining media attention and allowing Ruaidhri to compete at various professional tournaments during his initial year as a professional.
He is currently sponsored by Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort, an Irish owned business and family. He also receives support from CGI. His clubs are supplied by Ping with Titleist supplying golf balls, gloves and shoes.
Ruaidhri practices at Royal County Down and Rosapenna Golf Resort when he is not tour
