Stephen Ruben

Certified Family Law Specialist Stephen Ruben has practiced law for over three decades. At present, he fulfills the capacities of Managing Director and Principal at San Francisco-based The Ruben Law Firm, P.C., a private practice that concentrates on family law litigation. Serving San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Marin, and Contra Costa counties, The Ruben Law Firm offers a wide range of legal solutions, from family arbitration and child support agreements to private judging and mediation. In addition to his responsibilities at The Ruben Law Firm, Stephen Ruben also functions as a mediator on pending dissolution arrangements in the counties of Marin, San Mateo, and San Francisco.

Furthermore, he belongs to the Elkins Family Law Implementation Task Force, which was created to review state family law proceedings and make recommendations to the Judicial Council of California. Named a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2005, Stephen Ruben regularly makes guest appearances on the nationally syndicated KALW (91.7) radio program Your Legal Rights, hosted by Chuck Finney. Since The Ruben Law Firm focuses on the area of family law, Mr. Ruben shares his knowledge in marital settlements, divorce, and current trends in the field, among other issues. In the past, he has been featured on KRON 4 and KGO Newstalk radio as well. Prior to starting The Ruben Law Firm, Stephen Ruben served as Partner at Bryan, Hinshaw, Ruben, Cohen & Barnet.

Other previous positions he has held include Principal at Leslie, Powell & Morey; Of Counsel at Eber and Nakagawa; Special Administrator Probate Court at the Circuit Court of Cook County; and Guardian Ad Litem, Probate Court, at the DuPage County Circuit Court. When he is not at The Ruben Law Firm, Stephen Ruben gives continuing education lectures for the Family Law Section of The State Bar of California, sings in the Kol Emanu-El Choir of Temple Emanu-El, or plays racquetball.
