Our family started our own screen printing business back in 1987.
The two founders: Dad- son of an entrepreneur who was son of an entrepreneur, Mom- Design major from a family of artists, actors, and interior designers. It began with my mom designing, and my dad would manufacture. We sold (and sell) mainly resort wear (tee shirts, jackets, souvenirs) and mainly to Ski resorts across the US.
So we've been doing design work for 20+ years.
We began Ottoskins.com as a way for us to branch out in our design opportunities. We love technology, and we love personalizing stuff. When we were looking around at what there was for our own use on our phones we couldn't find anything we really liked. We had recently bought a really awesome high quality sticker printer, so we found a US company to get us the patented 3m "Skin" material, and started making our own.
Our focus is our designs, which are fun, and unique, drawing on inspiration from movies, music, places, hobbies, and whatever is "trending" right now.
Our other focus is that we manufacture all of our stuff completely in the US. everything is done out of our warehouse in Salt Lake. Our Quality is good because we do it ourselves. Start to finish.
We know there are lots of phone cases and skins out there, but we want everyone to find the perfect one that's just for them, (and sell it at an affordable price so they can change it up when they like!)
In the company, my sister and I have taken over lots of the design work from my mom. I work trying to spread the word. Doing social media marketing; posting and blogging. I also work on the website keeping it up to date and adding new product (we add new stuff every 2 weeks or so.
I love anything design oriented. I've worked as a production designer on film sets, a manager/decorator of retail stores in park city, a manager of our mall stores (which BTW don't exist right now, we're just working off of e commerce) and now on our website.
I don't even know what my job title right now would really be. I go to school right now at BYU where I'm studying Humanities and Business Marketing. But with Ottoskins, I get the chance to jumpstart myself into work before actually finishing up.
I love my job, and i love our company and our designs. It's awesome working with people you love and exploring/creating new things. I love things that look good and serve their function well,
