Lesley Rankine started her musical career as the "big-booted shouty bird" with London noise-punk band, Silverfish, while collaborating with the industrial outfits, Pigface and Monster Voodoo Machine and the Irish rock monsters, Therapy?.
In 1995 she chucked it all in to launch her solo project, ruby, releasing the down-tempo, trip-hop classic "Salt Peter" and it's remix sibling "Revenge, the Sweetest Fruit" featuring mixes by some of the coolest artists of the day.
Following extensive touring, including Lollapalooza, Lesley recorded a cover of "Kung Fu Fighting" with Tom Jones for the Jackie Chan movie, Supercop, ruby recorded the music for, and starred in a Pepsi commercial directed by Samuel Bayer. She then released a second album, "Short-Staffed at the Gene Pool", followed by its remix album, "Altered and Proud".
ruby then had a 'little holiday' while Rankine concentrated on family life until January 2013 when she 'slipped out' a wee song called "Waiting for Light". New releases, including a full length album are expected imminently.
