Ruby Rose Yepez

As a third-generation South El Monte resident, a sustainable community advocate, and a school parent organization leader, I am committed to creating a brighter future for our students.

I'm a first-generation college graduate, earning my Bachelors in Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona and now studying for my Master's in Public Administration from Claremont Lincoln University.

My experience shaped my desire to help students access resources that open doors to opportunity. I mentored high school students through Cal Poly's Latino Professional Alumni Chapter and the San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps Youth Build Program. I supported efforts to create the Arroyo High School Learning Garden, which brought a hands-on curriculum about healthy living and urban agriculture.

I've served my community as a Planning Commissioner and President of the Valle Lindo Parent Teacher Organization, where I’m spearheading efforts to fund scholarships, collect library books, and provide supplies for teachers.

A solid educational foundation helped me succeed. Every El Monte Union High School District student deserves that. We need new leadership to help our students succeed by:

• Creating more career development student experiences
• Strengthening special education programs
• Expanding access to academic, enrichment, and college readiness classes
