The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together global leaders to innovate solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Doc2Doc(k) began as a commitment to global health, during CGI’s inaugural year in 2005. Our mission was simple—collect unused medical supplies here in the U.S. and redistribute them to the developing world. Each day, U.S. hospitals waste thousands of tons of perfectly good medical supplies. This includes sterile, unused supplies, equipment and medication, some discarded solely for regulatory purposes. Doc2Doc(k) has the resources to ship 40-ft crates containing $500k of these otherwise discarded supplies to those abroad, for just $25k. Working on behalf of third party sponsors ranging from large-scale NGOs to small family foundations, Doc2Doc(k) has delivered more than $20 million in medical supplies and equipment, to hospitals in over 15 countries. “Doc2Doc(k) has made the difference between life and death in many parts of Africa and Haiti. Doc2Doc(k) not only delivers medical supplies but delivers hope, opportunity and human dignity.” - President Bill Clinton
