Rumana Habib

Dhaka, Bangladesh

I am, in living color: - the white noise of my constant internal monologue - brown skin (own it) and super black hair - a blue aura, I'm pretty sure - the pearl Macbook I write on and sleep with - my multi-hued mountains of books, bursting to be re/read - the orange walls of my funny little Manhattan apartment - my fabulous green-white-red-yellow neighborhood Nolita - the technicolor cinemas around town; and the black & white ones too - red velvet curtains on Broadway; black box stages off-off - my ever-colorful, always changing, much beloved NYC - frequent pilgrimages to/in/on turquoise oceans - true-blue politics: color-blind and rainbow-friendly - a red white & blue pursuit to be more free and more brave - and yes, I confess, also the green fields of my birthplace. Try as I might to argue, flee or deny, somehow it all comes back to home.
