I'm an award-winning multimedia journalist with 15 years’ experience, across print, radio, wire agency and digital outlets across Nigeria, South Africa, and the UK, who now lives in Germany.

I've worked as a reporter, writer editor, researcher, presenter and producer on financial markets, business stories, development issues and feature articles.

I was the sole winner of the Reuters Niall Fitzgerald Prize For Young African Journalists in 2010, also bagging the Nigerian Investigative Reporter of the Year in 2013, by the Wole Soyinka Centre for investigative Journalism.

Most recently in 2017, I was part of the BBC’s pioneer staff who set up the organisation’s groundbreaking Pidgin Service, where I worked as a Senior Broadcast Journalist until May 2018.

In this time, I produced, presented and scripted several notable stories including granting excusive access to Nigeria’s prisons and illegal immigrants fleeing violence in Libya.

In Apri 2018, my extensive investigation into Nigeria’s cough syrup addiction crisis culminated in a one-hour documentary Sweet Sweet Codeine, which I pitched, produced and presented in collaboration with the BBC’s Africa Eye investigations unit.

Released to critical acclaim, the documentary brought about change in policy and rehabilitation programmes in Nigeria, with private screenings being held across the country by civil society and community-focused groups till date.

Sweet Sweet Codeine has won the 2019 BBC News Award for Investigation of the Year, and has been nominated for the British Journalism Award, Royal Television Society Award, and the One World Media Award in the Television Documentary category.

Prior to joining the BBC’s Pidgin service, I also worked as a consultant for BudgIT Nigeria on developmental projects backed by various notable organisations, including the Open Society Foundation, Oxfam, and USAID.

I'm a graduate of Microbiology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and gained my postgraduate degrees in Journalism from Wits University, South Africa, and the University of Westminster, London, UK.

In my spare time, I conduct free training sessions for young journalists in Nigeria, acting as a mentor and writing coach to upcoming professionals.
