Ruqayyah Ali

My name is Ruqayyah and I am a native of Orlando, FL. I am a rising journalist and a graduate student at Full Sail University where I am currently completing my Master's degree in New Media Journalism.

I graduated from Rollins College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Critical Media and Cultural Studies – a branch of academia dedicated to analyzing the intersection of media and culture. Less than two months after, I began my professional career as an Admission Counselor at Rollins.

During my time as an Admission Counselor, it became very apparent to me that media is an absolutely essential tool to connect with individuals in today's society. Following the passion for media that I had developed as an undergraduate, I decided to pursue my post-graduate education at Full Sail University. This program has allowed me expand my knowledge and hone my skills in regards to all journalistic and digital platforms.

This website is the culmination of my efforts to increase my skills and create my own personal brand in the journalism world. Here, I share my interests in international travel and culture with the digital world. My passion for this beat came from my own personal experiences of traveling around the world and being of a multicultural ethnic background.

To date, I have traveled to over 20 countries worldwide and even called the African country of Morocco my home for several months! I believe in gaining as much knowledge as possible about others' cultural practices, religions and diversity as a whole. Thus the creation of a hub to share my enthusiasm for various forms of culture, movies, pop trends, festivals and the like.

I can be regularly found roaming the lanes of Universal Orlando, attending a WWE pay-per-view event, road tripping to museums and aquariums around the nation, or re-re-re-reading my beloved Harry Potter books and classic X-Men comics. My unbelievably large, culturally and religiously mixed family is an amazing environment to have grown up in. I am always spending time with them particularly in the kitchen whipping up tasty food!
