Rurl Amos is a New York-based criminal defense attorney and the founding president of Dunamis Law Firm. Known for his courtroom precision, principled advocacy, and deep commitment to justice, Rurl has built a reputation for defending the accused with courage and clarity—especially in high-stakes federal and state cases.
Born in Belgium and raised in Brooklyn, Rurl brings a cross-cultural lens to the legal system and a personal understanding of what it means to fight for a fair defense. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School (magna cum laude), where he led the Criminal Justice Clinic and served as editor of the Yale Law Journal.
Before founding Dunamis, he clerked for Judge Livia Mercado on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and practiced at a top-tier litigation firm. Today, he leads a practice known for its strategic brilliance, ethical foundation, and unwavering defense of clients’ rights.
Outside the courtroom, Rurl mentors first-generation and immigrant law students and speaks regularly on legal ethics, trial strategy, and justice reform.
