Russell Kalmacoff
An experienced business executive based in Calgary, Alberta, Russell Kalmacoff currently leads Rockmount Financial Corporation (RFC), a North American investment management firm. In conjunction with his responsibilities as President of RFC, Russell Kalmacoff employs his knowledge and skills to oversee and advise business activities for Olympia Trust Company and Trafina Energy Ltd., companies providing corporate and shareholder services and sustainable energy, respectively. For Olympia, he participates on the Compliance and Compensations committees, as well as serves as Chairman of the Risk Management and Investment committees.
Prior to entering the business world, Russell Kalmacoff spent two years studying engineering at the University of Calgary, moving on to earn his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba. Mr. Kalmacoff subsequently enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, where he pursued graduate courses in finance. After he received his Master of Business Administration from UC Berkeley, Russell Kalmacoff continued his education in a doctoral program at the academic institution, also spending time studying at New York University (NYU). Over the course of his academic career, Mr. Kalmacoff demonstrated great intellectual aptitude and commitment, writing scholarly papers on topics, such as gasoline marketing and competition law in Canada. At UC Berkeley and NYU, he served as a Senior Fellow of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, garnering a strong understanding of the country’s secondary mortgage market.
Following the completion of his formal education, Russell Kalmacoff contributed to Wall Street investment bank Salomon Brothers and A.E. LePage Ltd. in Toronto. While at the latter firm, Mr. Kalmacoff facilitated the formation of a public real estate investment trust, as well as a public mortgage investment corporation. Leveraging his academic and professional background, he coauthored a seminal text, entitled Introduction to the Canadian Mortgage Market, which the Investment Dealers Association of Canada utilized for two decades.
